Adding Images/Media

Adding One or More Image or other Media File to your Page

Use the add media button above the post composition window to select images, audio files or video to include in your post. You do not have unlimited space so we would suggest that export from Adobe Lightroom by restricting the size of your images, you will never need a horizontal width of more than 1920px and saving as a JPEG. Images can be embedded with various sizes of thumbnail and will open at their original uploaded size when clicked. Anything you add to your Media via this button stays in a library that you can access and edit at any time. Your images can be formatted in the same way as text, so you can indent them, change their justification on the page and so on.

In this example, I’ve added a caption for the image, including the title, author and date of production. Please include this information where available when uploading external resources. I’ve also changed the caption text to hyperlink using the ‘chain link’ button above to set the url destination. Again, we would like you to provide a direct link to any source material when your research originates online.

Creating a Gallery of Multiple Images

When you add media, you can also create a gallery, the second option. This creates a clickable arrangement of images, like the one below. When you visit the gallery you can then click through the images in sequence. You set the image order when you create the gallery, which you can edit at any time by hovering over the gallery and clicking the ‘pencil’ icon. Galleries like this are really useful for showing your work in progress, ideas you’ve rejected or variations on your theme. The more we can understand your editorial decisions the better equipped we are to asses your work.
